What/How about Buick?
(Just a lunch thought. I haven’t given any hard thinking to give a case for this)

No. Corvette.

It’s already been accidentally confirmed as a Chevy by one of their suppliers.

...Okay.
That aside, I have seen plenty of people arguing that case that the platform should be branded/produced as/under Cadillac for various reasons. But I realized that I have not seen one advocate for/against it being a Buick. And I’d like thoughts on this.

Seriously, though, there as that ONE time when a Buick was allowed accidentally to be faster than a Corvette, so no, this won’t happen. Also, since when does Buick have a sports car? Ever? So....no.

At least they’d have some potential of selling it in Europe if it was a buick. Could be marketed as a Vauxhall/Opel.

Buick’s brand is still developing from the somewhat invisible 2000's. Today they’re offering several well executed global designs and some desirable powertrains folks aren’t even aware of. I think this needs to soak-in. A “halo car” wouldn’t work right now. IMHO.

I suppose that might also be sort of a case against it, now that you mention it. Buick doesn’t have the same global presence that Chevy or Cadillac do (or trying to do in the case of Cadillac). On top of that, involving rebadging/rebranding into Vauxhall/Opel could get costly.

Well they
did
have a grand tourer with the Reatta. But yeah, there wasn’t much to be said there. But that also doesn’t mean they
can’t
have one, either. And they’re trying to change Buick’s image somewhat.

Nah, just change the badge, see the Cascada or Encore. Literally identical aside from the badges.

slide it over to cadillac so there isn’t the “100k chevy?!?!” bs

It looks like they’ll do a Caddy version of it, for which there is precedent with the XLR. And it makes at least some kind of sense.
I don’t see it making any kind of sense for Buick.
A sexy Alpha-based Buick coupe? Absolutely, but it’ll still always be slower than the Camaro and the ATS-V - at least from the factory.
